4-DAY WORKSHOP

Orientation Sunday, September 20th 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Monday, September 21st – Wednesday, September 23rd 9:00am – 4:00pm.
Thursday, September 24th 9:00am – 11:00am (Optional)

The Iconic image maker Keith Carter returns to conduct his unique and profound personal-style workshop, opening a whole new way of thinking about your photography. Keith Carter has perfected a unique vision, honed over the last 25+ years. Immediately recognizable, his work stands out from the crowd. How can your work do the same? It’s not just technique that makes the difference – it’s a point of view – yours. You’ll learn to identify aspects of your work to perfect, as well as what doesn’t work – learn to see photographs differently.

This workshop is designed to help you discover or renew your creative spirit, and broaden the way you think about photography. Its purpose is to help serious amateur or professional photographers reconcile practical and creative lives, to re-examine your own creative process exploring the narrative, aesthetic, and emotional aspects of image making, and find new paths to creative growth. Our goals are to help each participant develop or refine a sense of personal style and to make serious amateur, fine-art, or commercial work more passionate and fulfilling.

Emphasizing simplicity, practical demonstrations, field trips, individual portfolio reviews, and discussions centering on the work of both historically significant and little known photographers, we try to refine our views on producing work and balancing the various aspects of a busy life. In addition to re-examining expressive darkroom & digital printmaking techniques, we discuss how to develop projects, exhibitions, and the contemporary publishing world.

Participants may work in black and white, color, film, or digital. All camera formats welcome. Everyone is encouraged to bring a sense of humor and a sense of purpose. Wise-asses, hotdogs, poets, and burnouts are welcome.

PRICE: $2060.

(Includes daily registration for the full days of the class, models, class transportation and a boxed lunch for each full day of the workshop.)
